i bought a boat with 2 crysler 700 skier engines. 1974 or 75 not sure. when i turn the key on to eighther engine the electric chokes kick in. but the selonoids do not. same on both engines. i can jump from the battery to the selonoids + side and the selonoids kick in and also the starters... i tried wireing in a different switch on the dash. same results. its like there is a saftey device there a switch or some thing stopping these engines from starting...im confused. the only switchs on the dash are for lites and so on. nothing like a switch that has to be engaged before the motor starts? help me

Welcome aboard, nice to have you with us. :thumb:

As a guess...

I would think there would have been some kind of neutral safety switch on those models.

Perhaps something is amiss in the control box and the system is functioning as it would if it's in gear?

there are no electronics in the controls the keys are seperate from the controller..is it possible there is a switch in the lower unit that will not let these engines start unless there in the water? just a thought.
