I was reading about one of these on another site, and was wondering what they are, and what they would do better ??

(I wouldn't ask on the other site, BECAUSE of the attitude of some of the folks there).

Tgere is an adaptor where your oil filter is now and there is 2 hoses oil in and oil out, then your placement for the new filter will be on top of the engine so it will be very easy to change the filter when needed.

[IMO] You would want to use a kit from mercruiser only. Because if one of the part's fails you will still be backed by mercruisers warranty rather then a small company that would more then likely tell you to go pound sand rather then fix your engine the right way if needed.;)

as long as access to the filter isn't to bad, i'd leave it as is. there are some boats out there that need the engine pulled in order to change the filter - bad, bad design.

it's a lot eaiser to change a remote filter than it is to stand on your head and do it.
