Any plans for the President's Day/Family Day weekend?

Happy long weekend,

I was wondering if anyone has any plans for President's Day in the U.S. or up here in Canada what we call family day?

Are any of our warmer climate folks going to do some boating? :)

Personally, I'm a little down with the Flu so I'm hoping to do a little R&R and hopefully kick the bug I've got.

Hey Chris, we're out at the lake right now for the ice fishing derby, it's -33 right now but there is still around 2600 fisherman braving the cold, in Sask braving the cold is almost a sport, LOL

It's a pretty big event, over 200k in prizes, it's all in a big square with holes spread 10 feet apart, no shacks allowed, they then have a seperate area cleared off for parking and beer gardens, I took some pics this morning but don't have a transfer cable here so I'll post them when I get home, there's probably some friends on the Checkmate site that would like to see those, I don't imagine some of the southern members have ever seen anything like that with around a 1000 vehicles and all those people out on the ice.

I finally bit the bullet and got wireless internet here at the cabin just so I can check in on the CM site, now between my flying j internet and the one at the cabin that site is costing me about 50 bucks a month, LOL
worth every penny IMO:cheers:

Cool! Literally! Just -33 huh? :D

I got a Bell Turbo Hub late last year for the cottage. It works great. But you definitely have to keep an eye on the old bandwidth usage or you could end up with a bill the size of a cottage mortgage payment.

I'm looking forward to the Leaf's game tonight and then the Daytona 500 tomorrow. :thumb:

I'll look forward to seeing your pics when you get back.

Stay warm and have fun! :)

this is the original traffic bridge going over the creek my cabin is on, it has been just a walking bridge for the past 20 years, last year a piece of concrete fell off into someone's boat and it has been deemed unsafe, next week they are supposed to be tearing it down, it's a pain in the butt to get under with the pontoon boat so I'll be happy to see it go but it will be kind of weird seeing it go.

Thanks for sharing John. :thumb:

It looks like a cold but fun time.

I can remember as a kid, my Dad and myself would go out on Lake Simcoe ice fishing. A few times we even stayed out over night in the hut. What they used to do, was if you stayed out over night, they gave you two huts in case one hut's stove went out. And this was before the days of cell phones! So if both stoves went out, you just knew it was going to be a long cold night! It never happened to us though. :)
